Palm Desert, CA

Located in the Coachella Valley, Palm Desert has beautiful golf courses and the residents enjoy resort living all year long.

There are so many things to do in Palm Desert, CA.  I will try to give you a sampling of a few of my favorites.

One of the most fascinating things to see is the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. Check their web site regularly to see what exotic events they have planned.  The cool thing about the Living Desert is that you can walk around and see the animals.  You can even feed the Giraffes.  I visited the Living Desert 30 years ago, when I first came to Palm Desert and I was impressed with the beautiful surroundings.  I keep going back and there are always new things to see.  The staff make it easy to book private tours and their are live shows that you can get in on.  My whole family loves it so we keep going back and we purchased an annual membership.

Now let’s talk about delicious deductibles.  There are so many restaurants to select from.  When I lived in NYC, I thought the food was fantastic.  Since I have been in Palm Desert, I have wished there was a better word than "fantastic" for the food - I guess it would be awesome!

We can start with Chez Pierre Bistro because it is owned by a fellow Realtor (my friend) and it is one of our favorites.  The finest French food that I have ever tasted.  When it is in season, the soft shell crabs are not to be missed. My Husband is especially fond of the Sand Dabs.  Everything is made fresh to order.  The deserts are also really good.  Especially with Chef Pierre freshly made Beignets.  Oh la la!

Another favorite of ours is in the same center as Chez Pierre Bistro and is called Kaiser Grill.  The Castroville Artichoke Soup is so good you will wish it was an endless bowl.  All of the meals are cooked to perfection.  The menu has a variety of beef, chicken and fish.  I usually have the Filet because I love it.  My husband likes the fish specials.  The last time we went, they had a fantastic peach desert to die for.  The wait staff is always pleasant and the owner always stops by to make sure you are comfortable.  One more thing, they have live music - a singer who plays the piano.

I suppose we should have started with breakfast but at this point, I am going to end with my favorite breakfast restaurant: JC's Patio Cafe. If you plan on going to JC's you may want to get there on the early side or you could have to wait.  They have a great menu of different kinds of dishes.  Not just your run of the mill pancakes and eggs.  On the weekends they have several varieties of Eggs Benedict that are the rave.  I tend to go for the Vitalizer: Yogurt, fruit and granola.  Yum! My husband is from New York and he really likes the New Yorker that has the smoked salmon and bagel.  For a New York transplant to say he likes the bagel, it has to be pretty special.

I will add more entries as I get time.  But that is all for this time.
